ISLAMABAD: The paramedical staff of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) observed a volatile strike over two nurses being hurt by the car of the executive director (ED) Dr. Ghazala Mehmood, and another nurse being allegedly slapped by the security guard on Wednesday.
Two nurses, Ms. Sidra and Ms. Nagina were hurt when the car of the ED struck them, while during the strike that followed, another one was allegedly slapped by the security guard, over alleged orders of the ED.
Strike Continues: The emergency section of PIMS was closed down, due to which the patients suffered, while the PIMS administration summoned the police in order to deal with any untoward incident.
DSP Shamim Iqbal tried to hold talks with the warring groups, but after failing to give any concrete assurances, these also fell flat, after which the protesters held a march towards the Parliament House, causing a severe traffic jam on the Jinnah Avenue for an hour. The protestors staged a sit-in at the D Chowk in front of the Parliament House, where a heavy contingent of police had already been deployed.
